How Escrow Protects You When You Book a Tradesperson

Escrow is money held by a third party until both sides have done what they agreed. On TEKTO CNCT that third party is an escrow provider, not TEKTO CNCT and not the tradesperson. The money is set aside when you book, so the tradesperson knows it exists, and it is only released when the job is done.

• Rate agreed: the tradesperson's rate for your slot and the CNCT Service Fee are shown before you confirm.
• First hour held: the first hour and the fee are held in escrow, not charged. It secures the booking for both of you.
• Extra time and parts approved: if the job needs longer than the hour, or parts, you see the cost first and approve it in the app.
• Completion code: when you are happy the work is done, you confirm it with a secure code.
• Funds released: the money goes to the tradesperson, or 3 hours after the job is marked complete if you raise nothing.

Holding the first hour does two things. It tells the tradesperson the booking is real, so they set off knowing they will be paid for turning up. And it means you have not paid anything until the work is done, because a hold is not a charge.

Plenty of jobs change once the floorboards are up. When that happens, nothing is added quietly. The tradesperson sends the extra time or parts through the app, you see the cost, and the work continues only if you approve it. Materials are charged at cost, with nothing added on top.

A phone call or a tradesperson's say-so cannot release the money. Only your completion code can, or the 3 hours passing with nothing raised. If something is wrong, raise it from the booking before then, and the payment stays held while the problem is looked at.
